Our Story
Willow River Gospel Chapel was born from a simple yet powerful conviction: that believers should gather together around the Word of God in worship, fellowship, and mutual encouragement. Rooted in the Gospel Chapel and Plymouth Brethren tradition, our chapel began as a small group of Christians in the village of Willow River who desired a place to break bread, study Scripture, and support one another in faith.
Willow River itself is a historic community with deep roots in British Columbia's pioneering past. Originally established as a station on the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway in 1914, the village grew up around the forestry and farming industries that sustained families in the Upper Fraser Valley. Through seasons of growth and change, our chapel has remained a constant — a place where the timeless truths of the Gospel are proclaimed and lived out in a close-knit, caring community.
Today, Willow River Gospel Chapel continues to serve as a beacon of faith and hope in the region. We are a multi-generational family of believers — from children and young families to seniors who have called this chapel home for decades. We are not a perfect church, but we are a church that seeks to follow Christ faithfully, love our neighbors sacrificially, and share the good news of Jesus with everyone we meet.

Our Beliefs
The foundational truths that shape our worship, teaching, and daily life
The Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God — our final guide for all matters of faith and practice. The Scriptures reveal God's character, His plan of salvation, and His purposes for the world.
Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. No human effort or good works can earn forgiveness — it is freely given through the finished work of Christ on the cross.
The Priesthood of All Believers
We believe that every born-again Christian is a priest before God, with direct access to the Father through Jesus Christ. In our gatherings, every member is encouraged to participate in worship, prayer, and the exercise of spiritual gifts.
The Lord's Supper
We believe the Breaking of Bread is a central act of worship instituted by Christ Himself. Each Lord's Day, we gather to remember His sacrifice, proclaim His death, and anticipate His return as we share the bread and cup together.
Believers' Baptism
We believe that baptism by immersion is an act of obedience and a public declaration of one's faith in Jesus Christ. It symbolizes the believer's identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
The Return of Jesus Christ
We believe in the personal, imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ. This blessed hope motivates us to live holy lives, share the Gospel with urgency, and look forward to the day when all things will be made new.
Our Mission
